The Manicouagan wind project, managed by the firm Innergex, is one of the eight projects selected by Hydro-Québec in end of its call for tenders for the production of 1,550 megawatts of wind energy.

It is this project, in partnership with the Innu Council of Pessamit and the MRC of Manicouagan, which gets the biggest share of the pie with the ;authorization to produce 300 megawatts.

The call for tenders was launched by Quebec last March.

< p class="StyledBodyHtmlParagraph-sc-48221190-4 hnvfyV">The wind farm, the cost of which is currently estimated at around $1 billion, will be built in the Outardes sector, about a hundred kilometers north of Baie-Comeau.

It will include around fifty wind turbines.

According to the terms of the agreement with Hydro-Québec, the delivery of x27;electricity must begin no later than December 1, 2029.

Thursday, the MRC of Manicouagan adopted a regulation to secure a loan of 105 million dollars in order to be a shareholder in the project. In this way, the MRC wishes to obtain a certain percentage of operating profits.

Two other companies had also shown interest in producing of wind energy in Manicouagan, namely Hydroméga and Tugliq Énergie.
