Ever since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, there have been massive GPS outages around the Gulf of Finland and eastern Finland. Among other things, the interference disrupted commercial air traffic.

Former Commander of the Defense Forces of Finland, Member of Parliament Jarmo Lindberg previously stated that Russia jams GPS in the region to prevent Ukrainian attacks on strategic targets in the Russian Federation.

“Russia uses jamming to protect, for example, bases, warehouses, oil tanks. At the same time, they create problems for commercial regular traffic, which does not bother them at all”, – he explained.
