Google's Tensor G4 won't be a leader in benchmarks, but promises other advantages

There are no performance reviews of Google Pixel 9 smartphones online yet, but a company representative hinted that records in benchmarks, the new G4 processor should not be expected. Instead, Google's chips have their own way.

Google Pixel product management team member Sonia Jobanputra told about Google Tensor G4 in an interview with Financial Express. According to her, instead of focusing on the power and performance of the processor, the company views the G4 as the "brain" Pixel smartphones.

«When we designed the chip, we did not expect to outperform other processors in existing benchmarks. We created it taking into account our requirements and use cases», – said Jobanputra.

That is, the company developed the processor from the point of view of efficiency in specific tasks, and not with calculation on the total output power. Two weeks before the release, another opinion appeared on the network, which was reported by the Android Authority portal with reference to a source at Google: the G4 was supposed to be a completely new processor, but the company did not have time to complete development, and, in fact, the novelty &mdash ; it's an improved previous model, outperforming the Tensor G3 by 11% in single-core loading and by 3% – when using all cores.
