Major technology companies, including Google, Microsoft and Amazon, are looking for new power sources to meet the growing needs of artificial intelligence systems. Microsoft is already powering Three Mile Island, where nuclear activity is slated to resume.

While Google officials see nuclear power as a viable alternative to renewables, safety issues remain key to implementing these technologies because of the risks associated with waste, high cost of construction and the possibility of accidents.
