The Google company announced surprise event on August 13

Google usually holds its annual Pixel smartphone unveiling event in October, but this year could be very different. The company just announced a surprise Pixel event for August 13, which is about two months earlier than usual.

Google didn't specify any devices, but the invite says:

“You are invited to an in-person Made by Google event where we showcase the best of Google AI, Android software and the Pixel device portfolio”.

This is pretty vague and could mean , that the company just wants to “show” already available, previously officially presented devices. But here is the transition – on this day at 10:00 a.m. there will be a keynote speech. And there's no point in having a speaker for devices that are already released, right?

If this is indeed new hardware, expect the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and Pixel Watch 3 to debut – or any combination of them.

The earlier move could be part of Google's strategy to prevent some leaks, as it has faced a spate of leaks in recent years where virtually every aspect of every device was leaked weeks before official announcement. We'll know for sure in less than two months, so stay tuned.
