The congresswoman Gladys Echaíz assured that she did not know if the Alliance for Progress (APP) bloc had any conversations or agreements to decide who would be the candidates for the Board of Directors of the National Parliament for the legislative period 2022-2023.

In statements to El Comercio, he indicated that he could not have made the decision to resign from said parliamentary group based on facts that he did not know and that the statements of the party's founder, César Acuña, only confirm that he was part of an “excluded third ”.

“Gentlemen, as I have indicated, I do not know nor have I known whether there have been conversations or agreements to decide who would be the candidates for the Board of Directors of Congress. The spokesman did not comment to us, or at least to me, on the matter ”, he expressed.

“Therefore, you could not have made a decision based on facts you did not know. In any case, the assertions of the engineer (César Acuña) only confirm that as a guest on the APP bench I was part of the excluded third, which is neither democratic nor respectful”, he added.

As recalled, Acuña Peralta stated that the former National Prosecutor made the decision to leave the caucus because was not proposed to preside over the Board of Directors of Congress.

Speaking to journalists from the city of Trujillo, he did not rule out that in the next few days two legislators will join their parliamentary group, with which APP will have 14 congressmen.

“[Gladys Echaíz] has resigned because all the media announced her as president of Congress, since APP has not proposed her, she has made the decision to leave the bench. The same has happened with Congressman [Héctor] Acuña”, he expressed.

“Now we are a bench of twelve congressmen, one more may join tomorrow, we will be 13 and on Wednesday the APP caucus will be 14″, added the candidate for the Regional Government of La Libertad.
