Germany will transfer armored personnel carriers and air defense systems to shoot down drones to Moldova

Germany plans to provide Moldova with 14 additional Piranha IIIH armored personnel carriers and air defense systems to combat drones.

This the information was confirmed by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius during his visit to Moldova, NewsMaker writes

The new delivery of armored personnel carriers will be an addition to the 19 units already provided. The delivery of machinery and equipment is expected next year.

“We are not talking about large air defense systems yet. Currently, they are more necessary in Ukraine,” the German minister noted.

The Piranha IIIH armored personnel carrier is known for its multifunctionality and can be equipped with various types of weapons according to the customer's requirements. The base model usually has a remote-controlled 12.7 mm machine gun, which is paired with a 7.62 mm machine gun or a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher. The crew consists of two or three people. The armored personnel carrier can carry eight to nine soldiers in full equipment.

On the roof, the car has hatches for observation and firing, as well as an emergency exit.
