The German government will publish a new defense industry development strategy by the end of the year, which aims to reduce bureaucracy and accelerate weapons production.
This was stated on Monday by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, according to Reuters, reports “European Pravda”.
Pistorius noted that for too long the state has considered itself more as a regulator than as a partner of the defense industry.
“The task is to continue to strengthen the defense-industrial base of our country in these times. Not only to preserve it, but also to strengthen it,” – said Pistorius.
“We therefore want to purposefully improve the framework conditions for an efficient defense industry,” – he added.

Pistorius also said that the government was still able to act, despite the fact that the coalition between the Social Democrats, the Greens and the Free Democrats had collapsed.
“We, as the federal government, will of course continue to have intensive discussions with representatives of the defense industry,” – added Pistorius.
Earlier, German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock joined leaders who stressed that NATO countries should consider spending more on defense than the current target of 2%.
In the summer, Germany's largest defense concern announced unprecedented growth.
