Germany may transfer the latest RCT30 Boxer armored vehicles to Ukraine: what is their special feature?

On January 13, in the German city of Kassel, the first RCH 155 self-propelled artillery mount was transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the ceremony, KNDS Deutschland CEO Ralf Kotzel said that the Ukrainian military may also receive new RCT30 Boxer wheeled armored vehicles, Hartpunkt reports.

The publication shared that this armored vehicle can accommodate up to six fully equipped infantrymen. It also received a remotely controlled module RCT30.

RCT30 Boxer is equipped with a 30-mm automatic cannon MK30-2/ABM caliber 30 x 173 mm. The joint venture of KNDS Deutschland and Rheinmetall – ARTEC is engaged in the production of some modules.

The publication emphasized that the RCT30 Boxer is capable of hitting both ground targets and enemy UAVs. Experts say that the armored vehicle received a high level of protection.

In addition, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Oleksiy Makeyev, in his speech during the ceremony of transferring equipment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, called the RCT30 Boxer a “command escort vehicle.” The publication believes that this may indicate that the Ukrainian military will use the armored vehicle to protect RCH 155 wheeled howitzers from drones, and not as a wheeled infantry fighting vehicle.
