German Foreign Ministry investigates leak of ambassador's confidential report on Trump

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany has launched an internal investigation into the alleged leak of the report of the German ambassador to the US, Andreas Michaelis, about Donald Trump.

This was stated by the spokesman of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as “European Truth” writes with reference to Welt.

The Foreign Ministry of Germany noted that the manner in which the confidential report was disseminated by the mass media indicates “professional handwriting”.

For the people involved in leaking Michaelis' report, their actions may have “serious consequences”, added the representative of the German Foreign Ministry.

He emphasized that the confidential document is labeled “for official use”, and its disclosure may result in disciplinary and criminal liability.

Last week, the media published a report by the German ambassador to the USA with an assessment of the future administration of Donald Trump.

The ambassador, among other things, described Trump's plans for his second term in the White House as a program of “maximum disruption” that would lead to “the definition of a new constitutional order – the maximum concentration of power in the hands of the president”.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz publicly called for pragmatic cooperation with the Trump administration against the background of his declared slogan “America first”.
