The specialists tested 10 sets of new tire models 225/55 R17 without studs. These products are recommended for use in winter conditions, and some models are suitable for climatic regions of Russia. The experts tested the tires on snow, ice, dry and wet asphalt. Used tires from leading companies, as well as little-known manufacturers Syron and Duraturn.
Testing has shown that the difference in cost between the cheapest products and the most expensive tires is 63%. Michelin Alpin 6, Vredestein Wintrac, Goodyear UltraGrip Performance Plus and Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 tires are very well adapted to the climatic conditions of Russia, they received an excellent rating. Bridgestone is recognized for handling and traction on ice and snow, as well as Goodyear products. Michelin products excel in acceleration and braking on snow, as well as a long service life. At the same time, Vredestein tires perfectly hold the car when cornering and at high speeds in a straight line.
The Dunlop Winter Sport 5 and Toyo Observe S944 tires were rated “good”, they are stable on snow and ice and do not lend themselves to aquaplaning. Maxxis Premitra Snow WP6 and Uniroyal MS plus 77 have worked “satisfactorily”. Experts do not recommend buying Syron Everest 1 Plus and Duraturn Mozzo Winter tires because of the long braking distance. Bridgestone tires were recognized as the best in this indicator.
