Foreign Minister Marc Garneau says he is optimistic since Canada and the United States have a lot of “hooks”.
“Traditional things like trade and security, but also our desire to fight climate change,” he explained in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.
It is precisely with this in mind that President Biden revoked permits for the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline that was to be used to transport oil from Alberta to the United States.
“We heard this message. It has always been said that this was a good thing for Canada and the United States, particularly with regard to energy security. We understand. The president made this promise, we understand that, we respect that, ”added the Minister.
The minister says Canada and the United States are on the same page.
