“Fry” a UAV at a distance of 3 km: a new microwave weapon was introduced in China

The FK-4000 system uses microwaves, which are practically invisible and can cover a larger area than lasers, are used to defeat UAVs.

The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation presented at the large-scale air show in Zhuhai the FK-4000 mobile air defense system, which strikes drones with powerful microwaves The South China Morning Post writes about it.

It is reported that the FK-4000 can intercept the smallest and lightest UAVs up to ultra-small devices. The system is equipped with an antenna array about eight meters wide, capable of transmitting microwave pulses up to 3 km in less than a second.

The article states that microwaves are faster than traditional means of combating drones. In addition, they are practically invisible and can affect a large area, making them more effective than lasers for working on large areas.

The HPM system from Norico Group, equipped with an array of microwave emitters of approximately the same size, was also presented at the exhibition size, like the FK-4000, with a mount for the detection system and an integrated seek-and-track radar on top.

The publication emphasized that swarms of UAVs and their countermeasure systems, which were presented at the Zhuhai Air Show in particular, are considered critical in a possible scenario of a war for Taiwan.
