My wife, Natalia, and I have been together for almost twenty-three years.

From real life. "My wife found out I started our relationship by cheating": I didn't fall in love with her at first sight

We have a wonderful daughter who is getting married in six months. We have a big house, a dog, and a cat. Until recently, I thought I was absolutely happy and that everything was fine. And then suddenly everything fell apart.

The thing is, when my wife and I first met, I didn't fall in love with her at first sight. At least that's what Natalia always told me later. I just wasn't dating anyone at the time, and then I saw that a pretty girl liked me and I thought, okay, I can have fun with her for a while and then leave her.

I even talked about it with my friends, with whom I shared an apartment. I convinced myself and my friends that it would all end quickly, but I didn't even notice how much I fell in love with Natalia. And then we had a fight. I don't even remember exactly what it was about, but it was definitely something trivial. Natalia got really angry and said she didn't want to see me anymore and that we were breaking up.

At first I even thought it was a good thing. I was going to leave her anyway, and then she took the initiative. But the next day I realized how bad I felt without her. I missed Natalia, the walks with her, the conversations, the kisses and everything else. A few days later I realized I couldn't take it anymore.

I was lucky. We talked, made up and started dating again. Since then, everything has been more or less fine. At least we haven't broken up. I didn't tell Natalia about my plans for her at the beginning of our relationship and I kept it a secret for many years. And recently I had a class reunion, which I went to with my wife. And it so happened that I met my roommate Daniel, who only knew the beginning of the story with Natalia, where I said I wanted to use her. He didn't know how our relationship ended, because he moved out.

We recognized each other, said hello and started asking about jobs and so on. “This is Natalia, my wife,” I introduced my wife. “The same Natalia?” – Daniel was surprised. No matter how hard I tried to stop Daniel, he told Natalia everything I had told him years ago. When we got home, my wife said she was shocked. “I fell in love with you at first sight!” my wife exclaimed. “And all these years I thought my feelings were mutual!”

She said she didn't care about my explanations, that I was young and stupid. She felt hurt and offended. Anyway, my wife says she has forgiven me, but I can see that she is still angry. Of course I can understand her. So I will think about how to regain her trust.
