From now on, the Windows 11 operating system is updated 45% faster: what Mscrosoft has changed

Microsoft has taken a serious step forward in improving Windows Update with a new major update to Windows 11. Version 24H2, which began rolling out this month, not only adds many useful improvements, but also significantly reduces installation times, restarts, and even CPU usage during monthly updates.

Monthly cumulative updates for Windows traditionally include security fixes and new features. In version 24H2, Microsoft has made changes that have made the update process much more efficient. Among the innovations — parallel processing of components, scalable RAM usage, and an optimized cache for system updates.

These changes allow you to install monthly updates up to 45% faster and reduce the load on the processor by up to 25%. In addition, restart times have been reduced by almost 40% on some systems. These results were obtained when testing the 24H2 updates in a virtual machine compared to previous versions of Windows 11 — 22H2 and 23H2.

The company also improved the size of the downloadable updates, reducing them by about 200 MB. This was achieved thanks to a new approach: built-in Windows 11 applications no longer need to be downloaded if their latest versions are already installed.

As noted by Steve DiAzetis, a representative of the Windows team, this approach now extends to Microsoft Edge, which allows you to further save space on some devices.
