The French state railway company SNCF is about to launch high-speed trains in Spain. This will be the first time in Europe that high-speed rail transport in one country will be served from the territory of another.
The first train with double-decker cars, specially modified for the needs of the Spanish branch of the SNSF Rielsfera, was put on Spanish rails for testing on June 6.
Rielsfera gained access to the Spanish high-speed rail network as part of a liberalization policy. 9 trains of this company, tickets for which should be cheaper than the trains of the Spanish company RENFE, will start operating regular flights from 14 December. They will operate on the routes Madrid-Zaragoza-Barcelona-French border, Madrid-Albacete-Valencia-Alicante and Madrid-Toledo-Sevilla-Malaga.
