Free Christmas Eve divides politicians of Szymon Hołownia's Poland 2050. Will the project be implemented this year?

As reported by the “Super Express” portal, some time ago the Left submitted a bill to the Sejm establishing a free Sunday. The idea gained broad support among politicians from various sides of the political scene. President Andrzej Duda also spoke positively about it, announcing that he would sign it when the bill lands on his desk. There is also no shortage of opponents of this solution.

Free Christmas Eve has gained wide support among many politicians from different sides of the political scene. It is also supported by Poles, as documented by subsequent polls. A public opinion poll commissioned by “Rzeczpospolita” showed that 67.5 percent of Poles support this solution. In the “Super Express” poll, the number of supporters reaches 70 percent.

Not everyone, however, is as enthusiastic about the idea of a free Christmas Eve. The head of the Ministry of Finance, Andrzej Domański, openly expresses his reservations. The project is also sharply criticized by Ryszard Petru from Poland 2050, who clearly indicates that Poland cannot afford another day off.

Co interestingly, Petru's position differs from the position of the leader of the group from which the letter reached the Sejm. Szymon Hołownia not only supports the project, but is even supposed to lobby for the project to be voted on during this session of the Sejm.

Szymon Hołownia wants to vote on a free Christmas Eve

“Super Express” indicates that Szymon Hołownia would like the project concerning a free Christmas Eve to be voted on next Wednesday. Even if this actually happens, it does not mean that we will be able to enjoy a day off this year.

“There have been voices that the Left may propose a solution to pass a law introducing a free Christmas Eve with a one-year vacatio legis. December 24 would be a day off from next year,” said Szymon Hołownia last Tuesday.
