Congressman Freddy Díaz(Not Grouped) affirmed that he was drinking alcohol with other legislators the day he was denounced for rape by a worker of that State power, although he preferred to withhold the names.

In statements to RPP TV, the suspended legislator indicated that at the time he will announce the names of said parliamentarians in the “corresponding instance” and detailed that the number may vary.

“Beyond numbers, the truth is that I actually started drinking liquor with some congressmen, obviously in the Legislative Palace. I'm going to reserve, I'm not the one to mention those names. I didn't do it in plenary, I'm not going to do it, maybe it will be in the corresponding instance if I can do it or not”, he expressed.

“I was outside with several congressmen, not only in my office. I can't specify, there are several congressmen, the exact number may vary, but I've been drinking before with the congressmen”, he added.

However, Díaz Monago denied that the congressmen who voted abstentionally on his suspension –Alfredo Pariona and Janet Rivas (Free Peru), Jorge Flores Ancachi (Popular Action) and Jorge Coayla (Perú Bicentenario)- were present that day.

“I understand that they have a position, they have voted, but none of them were there. They will have the reasons ”, he asserted, noting that he himself voted in favor of his suspension, considering that he has violated the Code of Ethics and good customs.

However, Freddy Díaz reiterated that he does not consider himself guilty and reiterated that he did not commit said crime. He also said that he would have liked the debate on his suspension in plenary to have been public.

“Definitely not (I consider myself guilty ), I reject it and I rejected it from the first moment because that type of crime has never happened. I have never committed a crime of this nature, I never would and in this process we are going to prove it”, he sentenced.

As remember, with 99 votes in favor, zero against and 4 abstentions the report of the Ethics Commission was approved, which proposed imposing a 120-day suspension against Díaz Monago.

The debate, which lasted more than an hour, was held secretly, as agreed by the Board of Spokespersons before it took place this plenary session of Parliament.
