Fraudsters defrauded 71 thousand through "Winter Thousand": monobank warned about a new scheme

Monobank co-founder warned about a new fraud scheme

Oleg Gorokhovsky, co-founder of monobank, warned about the spread of a new fraud scheme related to the “Winter Thousand” program. According to him, scammers call clients as if they are “accepting applications” for payment.

One example is given when a gullible client transferred 71 thousand hryvnias to a specially created account with the hope of receiving a thousand hryvnias in state aid.

At the same time, official data shows that more than 2.3 million Ukrainians have already received payments of a thousand hryvnias to National Cashback cards. Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov reported that 63% of recipients spent money on utility bills, 17% on mobile phone recharges, and 4% sent aid to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

1.8 million adults and 520 thousand children received aid. The process of transferring funds continues, so citizens who have not yet received payment are advised to wait for the banks to process their applications.
