France Asso Santé warns of continued increase in mutual insurance in 2025

Mutual insurance rates continue their steep rise, with increases of 5.3% for individuals and 7.3% for employees in 2025. Faced with this alarming observation, France Asso Santé denounces a progressive privatization of the health system. A solidarity model on the verge of collapse ?

Even though France has long been respected and envied for its healthcare system, the latter is becoming a luxury. The continuous increase in the prices of supplementary health insurance, already increasing sharply over the last two years, risks making access to care increasingly inaccessible. In 2025, individuals will see their contributions increase by 5.3%, employees by 7.3%. A shock for those who are already struggling to make ends meet. 

As reported by France Info, the president of France Asso Santé does not mince his words: “Tomorrow, if this continues, we will not be able to receive treatment according to our needs and contribute according to our means.” The solidarity model that founded the French healthcare system is in danger.

In explaining this increase, the Mutualité française highlights the increase in charges transferred from Social Security to mutual insurance companies. “This is another step towards the privatization of health,” summarizes Gérard Raymond. For him, the trend is clear: we are witnessing a drift towards a two-tier health system, where the most vulnerable risk finding themselves excluded. This development undermines the fairness of the system, already weakened by the aging of the population and the rise in chronic diseases.

At the same time, he admits that this increase is “inevitable” in the current context, thus recognizing the pressure on mutual insurance companies: “We have reached the end of a system.” For him, radical change is necessary. Faced with the growing disorganization of healthcare provision and demographic pressure, he calls for a thorough review of the financing of the healthcare system, while preserving the values ​​of solidarity and distribution.
