Four climbers died on Mont Blanc

Four Italian and Korean climbers who were trapped near the summit of Mont Blanc for three days due to bad weather have been found dead. The people died of exhaustion, BFMTV reports, citing the prefecture of Haute-Savoie in France, where Mont Blanc is located.

There has been no contact with the climbers since Saturday, September 7, when they were trapped near the summit due to bad weather. Then three rope groups were lost near the summit.

Due to bad weather, rescuers were unable to evacuate people, and only on Sunday, September 8, were they able to lower one rope group of two Koreans at an altitude of 4,100 meters.

Two more groups, consisting of two Koreans and two Italians, were unavailable.

Only on Tuesday, September 10, rescuers first found the rope of two Koreans, and nearby – the Italians. They were dead.

Mont Blanc is considered the highest peak in Europe, its height is 4,805 meters.
