The Williams team, founded by Sir Frank Williams in 1977 and sold a few weeks ago to Dorilton Capital to solve its financial problems, confirmed that his daughter, Claire Williams, will leave her position as deputy director after the eighth round of the World Cup.

“It is with great regret that I confirm that I will step down from my role in the team, although I was hopeful to continue my tenure in the future and preserve the legacy of the Williams family for the next generation,” Claire Williams said in a statement.

The board stressed that it has had to make this decision due to the “need” in the team to “find internal investments at the beginning of this year due to a series of factors”, many of which it warned were out of its “control”. and which resulted “in the sale of the equipment to Dorilton Capital .”

“My family has always put our racing team and our people first and this was absolutely the right decision,” added Frank Williams' daughter, admitting that the new owners are “the right people to bring Williams to the fore. off the grill while preserving his legacy. ” “It has not been an easy decision, but I think it is the right one for everyone involved,” he stressed.

Claire Williams confessed the “enormous privilege of having grown up in this team and in the wonderful world that is Formula 1”. “I have loved every minute and will be forever grateful for the opportunities it has given me, but it is also an incredibly challenging sport and now I want to see what else the world has in store for me. Most importantly, I want to spend time with my family. And finally I would like to thank my father for everything he has given to the team, to the sport and to our family, “he acknowledged.
