At least five employees of the non-governmental organization World Central Kitchen (WCK), including foreigners, were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip, the Hamas-run Gaza government agency said late Monday, April 1 (an organization designated as a terrorist organization in the United States).
Among those killed in the incident in Deir el-Balah in the center of the Gaza Strip were citizens of Poland, Australia and Britain, as well as one Palestinian, a spokesman for this press service said , reports Reuters.
There were no comments from the Israeli military or WCK.
WCK is delivering food aid and ready-made meals to people in need. Last month, the company said it sent more than 42 million meals to Gaza in 175 days.
Chef José Andrés founded WCK in 2010, sending chefs and food to Haiti after the earthquake. Since then, the organization has delivered food to communities affected by natural disasters, refugees on the US border, medical workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, and people fighting the wars in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.
