Forbes named the highest-paid football player in the world: his income level

Saudi “Al-Nasr” and Portugal national team forward Cristiano Ronaldo became the highest-paid football player in the world in the 2024/25 season.

Forbes estimated Ronaldo's income at a record for football $285 million. Of these, $220 million comes from the club, and another $65 million comes from activities not related to football.

Forbes notes that among all the athletes that the magazine has followed since 1990, only boxer Floyd Mayweather was able to earn even more in one year.

The second place in the rating was taken by the forward of the American “Inter Miami” and the Argentine national team, Lionel Messi, with an income of $135 million. The third place was the striker of the Saudi “Al-Hilal” and the Brazilian national team, Neymar – his income was estimated at $110 million.

Forbes estimates that in the 2024/25 season, the ten highest-paid football players in the world will earn $983 million. At the same time, most of this amount will be received by players from clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Cristiano Ronaldo for the second time in a row and the sixth time in 10 years has topped the ranking of the highest paid football players in the world according to Forbes. In 2022, the first place was taken by Kylian Mbappe ($128 million), the striker of the French national team. In 2018-2020, the leader of the list was Messi ($111, 127 and 126 million, respectively).
