For the first time, the US imposed sanctions on Chinese companies that produce weapons for Russia

The US Treasury Department on Thursday, October 17, announced sanctions against three legal entities and one individual involved in production of Harpy long-range strike drones for the Russian army.

This is stated in the message of the US Treasury, writes “Europeyska Pravda”.

The Harpy drone, which was first publicly reported by Reuters in September, is manufactured in Chinese factories in cooperation with Russian defense companies. Specialists from China also participated in its design.

Under the new US restrictions, in particular, the Chinese enterprises Xiamen Limbach Aircraft Engine, which produces L550E engines for the “Harpy”, and Redlepus Vector Industry Shenzhen, which is an intermediary in supply of drones to Russia.

“These are the first US sanctions introduced against Chinese enterprises that directly develop and produce entire weapons systems in partnership with Russian firms,” – emphasized in the message of the US Treasury Department.

Previously, the United States introduced sanctions against enterprises in the PRC that provide critical resources for the Russian military-industrial base.

From the Russian side, the American blacklist was added Russian Artem Yamshchikov and his company TD “Vektor”, which participates in purchases on behalf of a sanctioned Russian company – Kupol Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant, a subsidiary of the Almaz-Antey concern.

The US has repeatedly warned China against supporting the Russian defense industry and has imposed hundreds of sanctions aimed at limiting Moscow's ability to use certain technologies for military purposes.< /p>

In September, US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell said that China is directly helping the Russian military machine by supporting its efforts to wage war against Ukraine.
