Twenty days after the attempted coup d'état in Brazil, for which many blame the former president< b> Jair Bolsonaro, his eldest son Flávio broke the silence about the present of the outgoing president.
The senator assured this Saturday that his father he is calm in the United States and he does not know when he plans to return to the country. Also, he mentioned that he carries with great nonchalance the investigations that were opened against him since then.
“There is no forecast for his return. He will know when he does it. It may be tomorrow, it may be in about six months, or he may never come back. I don't know”, assured the parliamentarian for the right-wing Liberal Party (PL).

He also took the opportunity to clarify the legal situation of his father in the North American country since, in recent times, great controversy had been generated around his status there. Given that Bolsonaro entered the United States on December 30 – two days after the inauguration of Lula da Silva – he was still the official President of Brazil, so his immigration status accounted for it.
After his term in the Planalto Palace has ended, the far-right leader must then carry out the pertinent procedures to be able to remain in the country legally. As reported by Flávio, he has already begun to manage his new visa so that he can stay longer .
This refuted the reports that he would only be in Florida for a few days.
“He is not worrying. Haven't you ever taken a vacation?”, his son continued in dialogue with journalists, adding that he does not know who remains with his father in Orlando, in relation to questions about his mother, the former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro. “They are surely very close people”, she said about her surroundings.

Bolsonaro left Brazil in the midst of a political haze for which he never acknowledged his defeat in October's presidential elections against Lula. In this sense, a week after the transfer of command took place, he was not very forceful in his criticism of the attempted coup that thousands of his followers attempted to carry out.
After these incidents, both the Federal Supreme Court and the Superior Electoral Court they opened investigations about him in order to determine if he had any degree of involvement in them.
In any case, his son ruled out that the PL leader had any fear of returning to Brazil to face these proceedings against you.

“There is no fear. He has no responsibility for what happened in Brazil (on January 8). If he were sitting in the presidential chair they could say that he facilitated something but he was not there”, he defended him.
In this sense, the senator pointed against the current President, whom he held responsible for the development of the events and said that if they wanted to attribute responsibility to his father, they should also do so with Lula, since he was the one in charge of the country and, in his opinion, he had enough time to adopt preventive measures and he did not.
“If they want to impute to Bolsonaro some responsibility for a peaceful camp of people who were legitimately protesting for not having demobilized him, Lula also has to be held accountable,” he said about the concentrations that thousands of Bolsonaro supporters had set up in front of the Army headquarters and from which the coup acts started.

In addition, he mentioned that his lawyers are aware of the development of the investigations and consider that “there is nothing that legally implies it”, while pointing out that it is not up to the courts to “make a political judgment”.
Finally, Flávio referred to the health of the former president and pointed out that it is not urgent for him to return to Brazil to undergo a new abdominal surgery due to the complications he still suffers from the stab wound he received in 2018. It is worth mentioning that at the beginning of the year, Bolsonaro had to be urgently admitted to a hospital in Orlando, although he is already in good condition.
