The lab was set up near the town of Aluksne, in the northeast of the country. Law enforcement officers found more than a ton of finished synthetic drugs worth at least 400 million euros (which is a record in recent years), equipment for drug production, and 38 thousand liters of various components used in production.

The investigation suspects that the drugs were being produced for sale in other European countries or Russia and Belarus.

A total of eight suspects in this drug business were detained. Among them, five are Ukrainians, two are Polish citizens, and one is a US citizen.

Six have already been remanded in custody.
