A large synthetic drug lab has been uncovered in Latvia, and five Ukrainian citizens are suspected of involvement in this “business”.

The operation by Latvian law enforcement agencies in cooperation with Europol took place last week, but the details were revealed only now. The operation took place simultaneously in several cities.

Law enforcement officers found more than a ton of finished synthetic drugs worth at least 400 million euros (which is a record in recent years), equipment for drug production, and 38 thousand liters of various components used in production.
The investigation suspects that the drugs were being produced for sale in other European countries or Russia and Belarus.
A total of eight suspects in this drug business were detained. Among them, five are Ukrainians, two are Polish citizens, and one is a US citizen.
Six have already been remanded in custody.
