On Friday, Hungary was the first country in the European Union to start vaccinating its citizens with the Russian corona vaccine “Sputnik V”.
“Today we start with the vaccinations with Sputnik V, they take place in the vaccination centers specified by the authorities.”
The head of the national health authority, Cecilia Müller, announced on Friday that 2,800 doses of the Russian vaccine are currently available.
In January Hungary was the first EU member to issue an emergency license for “Sputnik V”. According to its own information, the country has ordered two million doses of vaccine.
The se should be delivered within three months.
Chinese vaccine also approved
The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, had repeatedly accused the EU that the approval and purchase process for vaccines was taking too long. At the end of January, the vaccine from the Chinese manufacturer Sinopharm was approved in the country – also here the first EU country. An order for five million cans has been announced.
