After three years of waiting, since the release of the flagship WH-1000XM5 headphones, Sony is preparing to release their successor – the premium WH-1000XM6 model. The device was spotted on the FCC certification platform.
What is known about the headphones
According to the FCC database, the WH-1000XM6 will receive an updated hinge design and removable earcups. This may be a response to the mixed public reaction to the design of the WH-1000XM5 model, released in May 2022. Despite the changes, the dimensions of the headphones, according to preliminary data, will remain unchanged.
The WH-1000XM6 is expected to feature a more durable body and the ability to personalize it with removable ear pads in different colors. The headphones are likely to support Bluetooth 5.3 and Bluetooth LE Audio, and their “heart” will be a chipset from MediaTek, which can provide support for fast charging. Given the reputation of the WH-1000XM series for high sound quality and active noise cancellation (ANC), the new headphones will certainly inherit these advantages.
The official release date is not yet known. However, according to rumors, the WH-1000XM6 may be released on July 22, 2025. Also, considering that the WH-1000XM5 was released in mid-2022, it can be assumed that the WH-1000XM6 will appear around the same time.
