Fire breaks out at nuclear research center in Poland

On December 18, a fire broke out at the National Center for Nuclear Research – one of the largest scientific research institutes in Poland. This was reported by RMF FM.

The fire broke out as a result of a gas explosion in the center's laboratory in the city of Otwock, near Warsaw. As the radio reported, the laboratory was rented by another company.

The incident injured two workers, who suffered injuries to their hands and faces.

Representatives of the center told TVN24 that there was no threat to the Maria nuclear reactor.

According to unofficial data from the Polish channel, the explosion occurred during scientific research using approximately 10 liters of a flammable substance in a two-story brick building. The fire started in the basement and spread through a window.
