According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the air defense tracking services recorded the movement of two targets approaching the borders of the Russian Federation. To identify the aircraft and prevent violations of the border, a multipurpose Su-27 fighter from the operating air divisions was raised into the sky. When approaching the aircraft, they were identified as the P-8A Poseidon of the US Air Force, as well as the P-3C Orion of the German Air Force. The fighter escorted the aircraft over the Baltic water area, while no border violations were allowed.

The Su-27 heavy fighter is classified as Flanker-B by NATO codification. The main armament of this aircraft are six R-27 air-to-air missiles with thermal and radar guidance. There are also six highly maneuverable close-range missiles and a 30mm cannon with 150 rounds of ammunition.
