“It is with immense pleasure that I inform you that the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India has taken up the matter (…) and issued instructions to repeal the mandate of the administration committee, thus the AIFF is in complete control of its day-to-day business,” said the Indian federation's acting secretary general, Sunando Dhar, in a letter to Fifa.

Dhar called on FIFA to “reconsider its decision to suspend the AIFF” so that it can continue “the smooth running of football in India.” The federation of the Asian country, following the orders of the highest Indian judicial body on Monday, affirmed that the delayed elections to the executive committee will be held on September 2.

The suspension of the AIFF by Fifa was based on “undue interference by third parties”, and left the holding of the 2022 Women's Under-17 World Cup, scheduled for October 11 to 30 in India, in limbo.
