International Federation of football (FIFA) and the International Association of Football Associations (IFAB) are working on a new concept for the definition of the "offside" – offside. This is reported by the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.
The initiator of the change in the offside rule is the head of FIFA's global football department, the famous French football coach Arsene Wenger.
According to his idea, offside has be considered a position in which the entire body of the attacking player at the moment of the pass is closer to the opponent's goal than the defender. In the event that part of the attacking player's body is on the same line as the defender, this position is “outside” game" will not be considered.
It is predicted that already next football season new rules for determining offside will be protested in matches of lower divisions of Sweden, Italy and the Netherlands. If the innovation is approved at the FIFA level, the new rules for determining the “offside” position will apply in all club tournaments and in matches between national teams.
As BAGNET reported, in March Gianni Infantino became the president of FIFA for the third time.
