The least we can say is that Gatineau police officers and investigators had a busy Tuesday morning. After opening an investigation to shed light on a man's fall from five floors, the police force did the same following a fatal hit-and-run.

The events occurred in the Gatineau sector, shortly after 5:30 a.m., at the intersection of Montée Paiement and Boulevard Saint-René Ouest.

Police officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG) discovered an unconscious man there, whose death was subsequently pronounced at the hospital.

Evidence collected at the scene seems to indicate that the man was the victim of a hit-and-run, the SPVG wrote in a press release.

According to police, the victim, aged around 40, was a pedestrian wearing camouflage pants, black boots, a dark-colored coat and a toque.

In order to properly analyze the scene, the SPVG temporarily closed the Montée Paiement to traffic heading north between boulevards Saint-René Ouest and La Vérendrye Ouest. Traffic is now reopened to motorists.
