Far-right German MP's head attacked by ashtray

A member of the regional state parliament from a far-right party ” ;Alternative for Germany" (“AfD”) Martin Schmidt had an ashtray thrown at a pub in the northern German city of Schwerin, resulting in a head injury.

The DPA reports this.

According to the police, immediately after midnight, a 52-year-old man first insulted Schmidt and then attacked him with an ashtray.

AfD faction The regional parliament of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern reported that the politician was taken to hospital and was discharged on Friday morning.

According to law enforcement, the attacker claimed to have left-wing views and acted for political reasons. He is now being investigated for causing dangerous bodily harm and insult.

Unknown persons recently threw stones and an incendiary device at the house of a city council member of the far-right Alternative for Germany party. in the East German city of Halle.

Earlier in Stuttgart, Germany, two deputies from the far-right Alternative for Germany party were attacked. An ultra-left group claimed responsibility for the incident.

Before this, three people were identified who were probably accomplices in a serious attack on the leading candidate of the Social Democratic Party of Germany in the European elections, Matthias Ecke. The beating was so brutal that the politician had to be taken to the hospital and operated on.

Even earlier, the Bundestag deputy from the Greens Kai Goering and his fellow party member Rolf Fliess were attacked after a party event in Essen.
