The Trello task management tool has been reported numerous times on the blog. Numerous “boards”, “lists” and “cards” can be managed with it.
The software is also popular with the big players in the industry and so, according to the developers, Google, among others, is using the tool.
The y also announce numerous innovations for Trello.
The “new Trello era” now supports numerous views that are supposed to arrange the tasks clearly: timeline, table, dashboard and calendar.
The new views of the boards are only available to customers with business class and enterprise. On the one hand, there is the “time list” view, which visualizes all “deadlines” and potential gaps in the project process.
The y can be grouped according to lists, labels or members. Trello promises a better understanding of workload and dependencies. A detailed, independent blog post is dedicated to the timelines to clarify the details.
The strength of the table view is the overview when teams grow and the boards become cluttered and clear. In addition, individual cards can be sorted and filtered.
The developers also have further details ready for the table view.
With the dashboard view one wants to offer a kind of “bird’s eye view”, which visualizes the most important data of a project – including due dates and assigned cards and lists. Thus, for example, reports should be made quickly to stakeholders.
The key data of the projects and processes are also visualized with diagrams and graphics.
The purpose of the calendar view is probably quite self-explanatory: the activities of the day or those of the month can easily be kept in view.
The same applies to start times and due dates. Maps can also be moved across the calendar using drag and drop.
The date on the map is automatically updated accordingly.
In the future, they want to take the step towards connecting the different boards of the different teams. With the appropriate filters, you should then get a quick overview of the information you want.
The viewing platform is also opened for third-party developers, so that more new functions should come in the future.
And otherwise, the cards should now become more intelligent and simplify work management. For this purpose, new types of cards are being introduced:
Linked cards: By simply pasting a URL as the card title, Trello cards can now take the form of 30 external tools. Previews from YouTube, Instagram, Dropbox, Stripe, Salesforce, InVision, Google Drive & Co. are displayed on your Trello card.
Board cards: Just like with the linked cards, simply add a board’s URL as the card title. This will automatically create a direct visual link to this board. Projects and teams are interconnected across functions in Trello.
The y are used to clone a Trello card. It can then be displayed on multiple boards. This means that team members who work on different boards across the board always receive the latest information on a project. Updates of the original map are automatically displayed on the mirrored maps of all boards.
