A selection of movies/Radio Maximum
In 1999, the UN General Assembly announced the annual World Space Week from October 4 to 10. Such dates were not chosen by chance.
The specified dates are related to such events as the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite “Sputnik I” on October 4, 1957 and the entry into force of the Treaty on the Principles of States' Activities in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space on October 10, 1967.
By drawing the attention of humanity to these two important events, the contribution made by space science and technology to the improvement of human living conditions is celebrated at the international level.
To this day, Radio Maximum has prepared a selection of the best books, films and TV series about space. , which everyone should definitely read or watch.
Books about space
1. “Oceans beyond the borders of the Earth”, Hand Kevin Peter
We often look to Mars as the most promising place to look for life beyond Earth, but recent exploratory missions have shown that the most habitable bodies in the Solar System lie much further out in space. Under the icy crust of the moons of Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune, huge subsurface oceans are hidden, which together contain 50 times more liquid water than all the oceans on Earth.
“Oceans Beyond Earth” is a fascinating science story about how the combination of planetary science, biology and engineering expands our understanding of space, oceans and, in fact, life itself.

2. “First Light”, Emma Chapman
Emma Chapman's book sheds light on these dark times, painting the story of the first stars, hundreds of times bigger and millions of times brighter than the Sun, lonely giants that burned violently and died young in super-powerful explosions.
The scientist explains, how these stars formed, why they were so unusual, and what they can tell us about the modern universe. It also invites a look at the huge new telescopes that will peer into the past, looking for traces of such stars, and move this period in the history of the universe from theoretical physics to observational astronomy.
“First Light” < h4>3. “All these worlds are yours”, Willis John
John Willis, a Canadian astronomer and popularizer of science, reflects on where extraterrestrial life might be hiding and how to look for it. Drawing on classic works in astrobiology, analyzing the latest discoveries made by the Kepler telescope, the Curiosity rover and the New Horizons probe, Willis explores the prospects for discovering life in our galaxy.
It offers a peek under the ice caps of Mars, invites you to dive into the subsurface oceans of Europa and Enceladus, encourages you to imagine an alternative chemistry that could become the basis of life on Saturn's moon Titan, and also weighs the chances of finding a “second Earth” among the billions of exoplanets outside the Solar System.
“All these worlds are yours”
4. “New Dark Ages. Book 1. Colony”, Max Kidruk
“Colony” is the first book from the fantasy series “New Dark Ages” about the world in the 22nd century. This is a story about the fact that man, despite all the achievements of civilization, does not change, and neither the increase in life expectancy, nor even the transformation into a two-planet species guarantees salvation for mankind.
“New Dark Ages”
5. “Horses on the Shuttle”, Mullane Mike
In 1978, the first group of space shuttle astronauts – twenty-nine men and six women, who would spend the most turbulent years of the space shuttle program at NASA – were introduced to the public. Among them was US Air Force Colonel Mike Mullane, who in his memoir “Riding the Shuttle” dispels the heroic halo around the astronaut corps and portrays them as they are – ordinary people.
