In winter, many motorists practice warming up their car engines. The specialists of the Avtovzglyad portal have found out which cars do not need to be warmed up. The habit of warming up engines in the cold season has appeared since the beginning of production in the USSR of the first Zhiguli cars (VAZ-2101, 2103, 21011 and other models). Their air-fuel mixture entered the cylinder through the carburetor. The engine was cold, for this reason, condensate settled on the cylinder walls and flowed into the crankcase, washing off the oil film, which caused increased wear of the rubbing parts. Modern engines have a fuel injection principle. Experts note that injection power units are not afraid of a quick start in winter. The Lada Vesta engine is adapted to withstand more than one cold start.

Experts have analyzed engines with an aluminum cylinder block, which are allegedly afraid of cold start. Such units are installed on the Kia Rio and Hyundai Solaris assembled in Russia, and these engines are produced by the dry liner method. Such a design solution makes it easier to start the engine in winter and significantly reduces wear of parts during cold start.
