For the first time, the appearance of a new gang of hackers in Belarus, Russia and a number of other countries became known on October 2 from ESET specialists who spoke at the Virus Bulletin 2020 digital security conference. Later, their colleagues from Kaspersky Lab and Positive Technologies came to the same conclusion … According to ESET, the members of the group have been working for 9 years and, judging by the nature of the tools they use, as well as their focus on government organizations, they are collecting data for the government of another country. Who exactly is the recipient of the collected data is not known at the moment, but the compilation dates of the viruses indicate time zones typical for Eastern European countries. Among other things, after the analysis, Kaspersky Lab specialists emphasized that the hackers are fluent in Russian.
The specialists have the most information about attacks by spy hackers on the computer networks of Belarusian state bodies. In that case, the malware was sent to about a hundred recipients in the Council of the Republic of Belarus, the Council of Ministers and a number of government departments by e-mail.
