European developers presented a new air defense system that can replace the American Patriot

At the international exhibition Euronaval 2024 manufacturers from France and Italy – MBDA and Thales — presented the newest anti-aircraft missile Aster 30 B1NT. The development could become a European alternative to the American Patriot PAC-3 system. Army Recognition writes about this.

The missile was successfully tested at the training ground in Biscarross, France, where it proved its effectiveness against complex air targets. The system is capable of destroying targets at a distance of over 150 km and an altitude of up to 25 km, including hypersonic and ballistic missiles.

Aster 30 B1NT is equipped with a modern K-band radar and can be integrated as in ground (SAMP/T-NG), as well as in sea (PAAMS) air defense complexes. According to experts' assessments, European development surpasses its American counterpart in flexibility of application.

The first potential buyers have already appeared  — Belgium is considering the purchase of the latest air defense system. This could become an important step in strengthening the European defense potential and deepening the military-technical cooperation between EU countries.

Developers of the system — companies MBDA and Thales — continue to improve the technical characteristics of the Aster 30 B1NT to provide European countries with reliable protection against modern air threats.
