EU to look into Georgia election violations

The European Union “will send a mission, a political mission, to Georgia to look into what happened” in the parliamentary elections on October 26, Borrell said following a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.

He also recalled that the European Union has already taken measures in the wake of the anti-democratic turn of the Georgian authorities, freezing or canceling funding for programs supporting the Georgian government.

“We have cancelled about 120 million euros in support for the Georgian government and are going to direct this support to programs that directly help non-governmental organizations and Georgian society,” the top EU diplomat noted.
