Natural gas reserves in Europe are almost full, although it may not be enough.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said that the countries of the European Union have already filled gas storages by 90%. This is reportedly three months ahead of schedule.

This will help keep us safe this winter. Together we refuse Russian gas. And we continue to work in parallel on more diverse energy sources for the future.

According to the latest data from the industry group Gas Infrastructure Europe, the EU storage level reached 90.1% of capacity as of August 16. This is the highest figure for the entire season, which is significantly ahead of the European Union's goals set on November 1. However, the publication Bloomberg specifies that these reserves do not provide all the winter needs of the region, due to which a number of risks are possible.

In other words, the energy crisis in Europe is not over yet. However, according to the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, the energy security of the European Union “is in a much more stable position than this time last year”.

Earlier BAGNET reported that the EU  has reduced oil and gas imports from the Russian Federation since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine.
