Eteri Tutberidze supported her former student, despite the failure during the test run. Evgenia Medvedeva was unable to show the program due to several errors.
Eteri Tutberidze was the coach of Evgenia Medvedeva for 11 years. She was preparing her ward to conquer the heights of figure skating, but she eventually went to another coach, Brian Orser, leaving for Canada. Under his leadership, she was able to achieve a high result – to earn a silver medal at the Winter Olympics in South Korea, but she never won. Alina Zagitova stood in her way. It was her that she considered the main rival since the junior school, and asked the coach not to develop her career too quickly, so as not to perform with that one at the same competitions.
Recently, a test run took place, which Evgenia Medvedeva failed, but still earned applause from the former coach. The athlete, performing a flip, made only one turn and unsuccessfully performed a double axel. In addition, she had a fall during the triple lutz.
These setbacks can make it difficult for the 20-year-old skater to reach a new peak. She is now trying to rebuild her career and return to her previous skill level. Many figure skating fans and experts do not believe that she will be able to perform at the same level again, Teleprogramma reports.
