In the fourth round of the League Cup, Burnley at Turf Moore will host Manchester City on 30 September – we have evaluated the start of the teams in the new season and prepared a forecast for this match.
The results of “Burnley” in the new season are relatively weak. However, the “Burgundy” game does not define them as candidates for elimination. Burnley are fighting on the pitch, but have not yet earned points. First, Burnley lost to Leicester (2: 4), and then lost to Southampton (0: 1). The main successes of the team are associated with the League Cup, where Burnley went on penalties to Sheffield United, and in the next round defeated Millwall (2-0).
As a rule, in the League Cup, the “burgundy” play poorly, taking off in the first or second match. This tournament has been the most successful for the team in the last six years.
In the transfer market, Burnley was very passive. Sean Deitch’s only acquisitions were transfers of Dale Stevens from Brighton and Will Norris from Wolverhampton.
Burnley has three injured players: Ben Mee, Jack Cork and Johan Gudmundsson. Jay Rodriguez, Robbie Brady, Dale Stevens, James Tarkovsky and Ashley Barnes are questionable.
The defeat to Leicester (2: 5) in the last round was definitely a very cold shower for the revived fans of the “citizens”. Manchester City are starting the season again as a laggard. In the first match, Josep Guardiola’s team calmly dealt with Wolverhampton (3: 1), but in the next match the club faced a crushing defeat.
In the League Cup match, Manchester City won not very confidently. The Citizens defeated the modest Bournemouth 2: 1. However, this particular tournament is the most successful for the MC. Josep Guardiola’s players have won all three previous draws of the competition. As a rule, Manchester City walked easily on the grid, quietly beating opponents, both away and at Etihad.
Five players are not available to Josep Guardiola for the upcoming meeting: Alexander Zinchenko, Bernardo Silva, João Canselo, Ilkay Gundogan and Sergio Aguero. Emeric Laporte’s participation is also questionable.
In eight out of ten past official matches, Burnley have played under 2.5 total.
The “both will score” bet was played in five of the seven past official home matches of the “Burgundy”.
Manchester City have won seven out of ten previous official meetings.
In nine of them, the bet “total over 2.5” was played.
In the League Cup away, Manchester City have not lost ten matches in a row, eight of which the Citizens won in regulation time.
Maechester City have scored away in 11 of their last 12 League Cup matches.
Burnley have not won at home in five straight League Cup games.
Burnley have scored in 11 of their last 12 games.
Manchester City have beaten Burnley in all five of their last head-to-head matches. Four of these victories were won by the “townspeople” with a crushing score.

Overall, Burnley is a convenient contender for Manchester City . And here the “burgundy” will also come under a hot hand after the devastating fiasco from “Leicester”. Sean Ditch’s team is not to be envied. Given that Guardiola is serious about the League Cup, here you can bet on the victory of the guests in a productive match.
Our prediction is that Manchester City will win + both will score for 2.83 at BC Winline
