In one of the final matches of the 1/8 finals of the English League Cup, Aston Villa plays host to Stoke City – we assessed the teams’ chances of success and made a forecast.
The Birminghamians, who miraculously saved their registration in the Premier League in the last championship, did not postpone the solution of the same problem this season. Already in the first rounds, the team achieved maximum results. First , Aston Villa won a home win over Sheffield United (1: 0), and then put three points in the club’s piggy bank away in a match with Fulham (3: 0).
Traditionally, Aston Villa performs well in cup tournaments. Despite the nondescript game in the last championship, in the League Cup she reached the final, in which she lost to Manchester City (0: 3). In the current draw of the honorary trophy, Villane started with a victory over Burton (3: 1), after which they beat Bristol City (3: 0).
The days when Stoke City played well in the Premier League are over. Now the “potters” are a modest inhabitant of the Championship, and last season they fought for registration in the second most important division of England.
This season is going well for Stoke City so far. In the Championship, the Potters suffered only one defeat to Bristol City (0: 2), ended in a draw with Millwall (0: 0) and beat Preston (1: 0). In the League Cup, the team has achieved success in the matches against Gillingham (1: 0) and Wolverhampton (1: 0).
Note that we have conceded to Stoke City in only one match this season.
Aston Villa have won all four games this season.
Villane conceded only a goal in their four previous games.
Stoke City have conceded only one of their five games this season.
The forecast “total under 2.5” has played in all the Potters’ matches this season.
Stoke City have not lost to Aston Villa in five matches in a row, having won three of them.
02/23/19 Stoke City Aston Villa eleven
12/15/18 Aston Villa Stoke City 2: 2
The Potters are an uncomfortable opponent for Aston Villa , whom Villane have beaten only twice in the last 15 head-to-head matches, and both times they achieved success on the road. At home, the last victory dates back to 2009. Already on Sunday, Villan will face a tough confrontation with Liverpool, so it’s hard to say which lineup will play. It should be noted that both teams now look good on the defensive, so a bet on a grassroots match, in our opinion, is a good option.
Our forecast – total under 2.5 goals for 1.90 in BC Winline
