England – Belgium: who is the favorite?
England lost the last two matches to Belgium, but will the tradition continue on October 11 – you will find the answer in the forecast. What to expect from teams?
The England squad under the leadership of Gareth Southgate is successful on all fronts – in qualifying for the European Championship, the British were the best in their group, scoring seven wins in eight matches. In the League of Nations, everything is still not so successful – in the first round, the “Three Lions” managed to beat Iceland 1: 0 away, but the victory can hardly be called deserved, given the weak play and the opponent’s missed penalty.
In the second round, it was also not possible to seriously add – while away, the British painted a dull zero draw with Denmark, having in fact one real moment at the very end of the meeting. Thus England, after two rounds while the second in the group and the leader of Belgium, is losing two points.
In a friendly match, Southgate allowed himself to use the reserves and gave many players the opportunity to debut, which did not affect the result – England easily beat Wales 3-0 at home.
The Belgian national team shows outstanding football under the leadership of Roberto Martinez – the Belgians took 30 points in 10 matches in the selection for the European Championship, having scored 40 goals.
In the League of Nations, Belgium also has complete order – in the first round they easily beat Denmark away, limiting themselves to only two goals scored and keeping their gates locked. In the second round, the “red devils” did not notice Iceland – a victory with a score of 5: 1 made them the leader of the group.
In the last friendly match Martinez did not use the main players, this was skillfully used by Côte d’Ivoire, having managed to snatch a 1: 1 draw in Brussels.
England lost their last two matches to Belgium
Belgium has 12 wins in the last 13 matches in all tournaments, ending one match in a draw
Belgium have scored at least two goals in each of their last nine away matches
07/14/18 Belgium England 20
06/28/18 England Belgium 0: 1
The England squad has certainly made progress under Southgate’s leadership in qualifying for the UEFA European Championship without a peer in their group. However, in recent fights, the British look inconspicuous – one goal scored from the penalty spot in the matches with Iceland and Denmark clearly testifies to this, and there are problems with discipline – five people have been expelled from the team for various violations lately.
The Belgian national team continues to gain confident victories, showing effective football, the “red devils” look much more solid and it makes sense to give preference to them.
