The new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, announced this Saturday that he had reinstated the account of former US President Donald Trump, on the social network after promoting a poll that ended with a 51.8 percent yes vote.

“The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” Musk announced through his official account after the 24-hour deadline had elapsed to respond to the survey that had more than 15 million participants.

In early November, Musk said that Twitter “will not allow” anyone who has been removed from the social network for violating its rules return to the platform until the company has a clear process.

The tycoon, who bought the network for44 billion dollars, further said in a series of tweets that “Twitter's content moderation council will comprise representatives with widely divergent viewpoints, who they will certainly include the civil rights community and groups fighting hate-fuelled violence.”

In the tweet itself posted following the survey , Musk implied with the message “Vox Populi, Vox Dei!” (Latin phrase meaning “the voice of the people is the voice of God”), that the return of Trump – who announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election this week – would depend on the result of the poll.

Peterson's and Babylon Bee's profiles were blocked for posting content that disrespected the trans community, while Griffin's was removed for impersonating Musk.

Last Thursday and after < b>ultimatum given by Elon Musk to Twitter workers on deciding whether to stay or quit the company, several messages full of contempt and insults against the billionaire were projected on the outside of the main building of the social network in San Francisco.

“Baby, supreme parasite, pimple petulant, apartheid exploiter, lawless oligarch, insecure colonizer, cruel hoarder, Karen from space, mediocre child, pressured privilege, petty racist, megalomaniac, worthless billionaire and bankrupt baby”, were some of the messages that could be read from the outskirts.

The images were posted by NBC Bay Area reporter Gia Vang. In one of her tweets, the reporter wrote: “This is being screened by someone across the street who calls themselves a screening activist .” In a matter of seconds, he captured the attention of Internet users, leaving the photos with more than 10K likes and almost 5K retweets.
