Elon Musk: by 2040, humanoid robots will outnumber humanity

Techno magnate Elon Musk believes that in the next 15 years humanity will face an exponential increase in the number of AI-based humanoid robots. According to the entrepreneur, by 2040 their number may exceed the population of the planet Earth.

During the speech at the Saudi Arabia summit The Future Investment Initiative entrepreneur expressed the opinion that in the near future each country will have several of its own AI models. They will have a significant impact on all areas of human life, Musk emphasized.

As for humanoid robots, their number may reach 10 billion units, the entrepreneur believes, in 15 years, the businessman said. At the same time, the average cost of such a product will be from $20,000 to $25,000, the billionaire noted.

Musk also touched on the development process of the Optimus robot that his company is creating. According to the technologist, this project can multiply the value of the electric car manufacturer Tesla.

Gary Marcus, the founder of Geometric Intelligence, was skeptical of Musk's statements. He believes that there will be economic and technological difficulties on the way to the widespread introduction of humanoid robots. In addition, the entrepreneur reminded of the so-called "Elon Time" the fact that despite the practically peak development of the automobile industry, the number of cars today is about 1.5 billion units. Not every person can afford a vehicle or simply does not want to buy it, the expert said. He is sure that the situation will be similar with humanoid robots.
