Elina Svitolina defeated the expert racket of the world at the start of “Wimbledon-2023”

28-year-old tennis player Elina Svitolina started with a victory in the main draw of Wimbledon. A native of Odesa defeated Venus Williams, a 43-year-old American, former number one in the world .

The Ukrainian woman dealt with the USA representative in two sets – 4:6, 3:6.

It should be noted that in the first set, Williams fell and held on to her injured knee. Thus  the American had to finish the match with a significant injury, reports champion.com.ua.

BAGNET notes that another of our compatriot Lesya Tsurenko also successfully started in the main draw of Wimbledon.  The 34-year-old Ukrainian met American Claire Liu in a tense three-set match, where she won 6:3, 3:6, 6:4.
